ALL SYSTEMS A GO

Today was the first day out with the Missy Jean for the 2013 season.

What a shake down it turned out to be!

After several days of getting the boat ready, new top with side curtains, boat and trailer serviced for the new season, a few new toys added and some items replaced that were not working so good at end of last season.

Happy to report everything was flawless including the fishing.

I hit the water at 6:00 am on the East Shore of Isle La Motte.

Looking for certain water temperatures that would produce some fish, I found the lake trout in approx. 25 feet of water, 13 feet down, with a surface temperature of 48 degrees.

These are just a few photos of the fish I caught for the day, the catch was; 15 lakers, weighing 7-9 lbs.

I had plans to fish with my friend Justin, he could not make it today, maybe next time Justin!

I sure was challenged fishing by myself, reeling and netting these fish alone sure was fun indeed.

FISH ON!

Blue/silver seemed to be the favorite for the day.

The waters were calm for most of the day. It was a beautiful day here on the Island.

First 70 degree day sense last year.

Here she is, ready to go for yet another year.

A GREAT DAY OF ICE FISHING

What a fantastic day of ice fishing.

Our day started on the shores of Missisquoi Bay in Alburgh Springs Vermont.

Here are some of our tip-ups all ready to go.

My friend Bill.

This Northern Pike weighed in about 8 lbs.

It was a beautiful day indeed with the temperature about 45 degrees with no wind.

A few small ones.

Total for the day was 3-8 lb pike, 1-10 lb pike, a bunch of 3 lb pike and a bunch of perch.

Look at this beauty, this Northern Pike weighed approx. 10 lb.

A great day of fishing with Bill and my fishing partner Roger.

FALL SPAWNING SALMON FISHING

While Captain Pete is waiting for open water (won't be long now) he wanted to share with you some Salmon fishing last November. In the video below, Captain Pete is fishing Lake Champlain/Gordon Landing at Hatchery Brook.

The video shows Captain Pete fishing in his Mirror Craft, 14 ft., boat "The Swash Bucket".

The boat has two manual Big John Down riggers and four rod holders for in line planner boards and lead core. Captain uses the Swash Bucket to get into fishing spots early spring and late fall, places where the Missy Jean won't go.

All geared up and ready to go.

LAKE CHAMPLAIN TROUT SCOUT IS IN MISSISQUOI BAY

Captain Pete is fishing again.

This weekend he is on the hunt for Northern Pike in the Missisquoi Bay in Alburgh Springs Vermont.

The temperatures were approx 32 degrees and the winds were south-south east approx 15 mph in the morning with calming down in the afternoon.

Pete and Roger are all packed up and ready to go.

With tip-ups set up it was a very successful day of fishing. Pictures of other Pike did not come out so are not worth posting. This is a 7 1/2 lb Northern Pike.

The haul for the day was; two 5 lb, one 7 1/2 lb, one 9 lb, and multiple 3 lbs.

In the picture is one 5 lb, the 7 lb and the 9 lb.

With such a great day of fishing it was hard to pack up when the sun went down. Here are the tip-ups in the lights of the four-wheelers. It paid off......
