WELCOME TO LAKE CHAMPLAIN TROUTSCOUT CHARTERS

Your Captain is a native Vermonter and has spent years on the waters of Lake Champlain. Captain Pete lives on a tiny island called Isle La Motte in the Lake Champlain Islands Region.

United States Coast Guard - 50 Ton Master Captain/Peter Murray's mission is to provide a safe and productive experience aboard the Missy Jean.

Let the Captain's experience be your guide for not only a day of great fishing but fantastic views of our breathtaking mountains, with the Adirondack Mountains to the West and the Green Mountains to the East.

The Captain's obvious love and respect for the lake and its offerings is the driving force behind much of the activity on board.

AUGUST 21ST CHARTER

Here is Chris and his family.
The Missy Jean left the Coast Guard Launch (Burlington Waterfront) at approx. 8:00 am.
The weather was warm with an 8 mph wind out of the south.
A four line spread was set out and in short time the family had a release.

The family limited out and more on the fish caught for the charter.
Fun was had by all, specially this young man!

During one fish on, the Captain had to pull all the of the other gear in and back down on the fish in order to reel it in.
At the back of the boat the line gave up and the fish was floating on the surface of the water.  The Captain was able to bring the boat about to net the fish.

The Captain thought this was one heck of a day fishing, and would like to thank Dan and his family for spending time with Lake Champlain Trout Scout Charters.

Thanks for stopping by.

AUGUST 9TH CHARTER

We launched the Missy Jean from the Coast Guard Launch (Burlington Waterfront) at approx. 10:30 am.
Thunder storms were predicted so we kept a good eye on the weather.
A four line spread was set out and once again we had a release in short order.

Mike and Joanne landed three lakers.
A warning came in from the Coast Guard, a storm was near by so we picked up and headed for shore.
We ate lunch while waiting for the storm to pass.

We headed back out for more fishing.

We successfully limited the catch for the charter for the day and fun was had by all.

The Captain said it was a great day of fishing and wants to thank Mike and Joanne for spending time with Lake Champlain Trout Scout Charters.
Thanks for stopping by.

AUGUST 6TH CHARTER

Today we fished the inland sea.
We  launched the Missy Jean at approx. 7 am in search of landlocked salmon.
Weather was 15-20 mph winds out of the south and a warm 75 degrees.
A six line set was put out, it wasn't long before there was a release.

In this short video John is landing a fish

We had many more releases through out the charter, most fish caught turned out to be not the species (perch, white perch and bass) of fish we were targeting.
The Captain still thinks it was a good day on the water and wants to thank John for spending time with Lake Champlain Trout Scout Charters.
Thanks for stopping by.

DAN AND FAMILY JULY 15, 2013 CHARTER

The Captain left the dock at approx. 9:30 AM with Dan and his family on board.
The goal was to fish for perch and bass on this charter.
It didn't take long for the Captain to find the school of perch he was looking for.

The kids reeled the perch in one after another.

One Blue Gill caught for the day.

The catch included several small mouth bass and one large mouth bass.
Exciting!!!!!!

This perch thought it was going to get away from the Captain, not so fast little guy....

Thanks for spending your vacation time with Lake Champlain Trout Scout Charters.
What a great time the Captain had with this family, and he wants to tell you once again what a great job you did fishing on the Missy Jean.

Thanks for stopping by.

JULY 5TH CHARTER

July 5th charter.

We started the day at Apple Tree Marina launch in South Hero.  We were on the water around 5 am.

I had Gerry, Dave and my first mate Kevin on board.

We were out for a six hour charter on the Inland Sea on Lake Champlain, targeting land lock salmon.

We set out an eight line spread and we had our first salmon on in just a short time.

The water was choppy which is perfect for salmon fishing, the air temperature was comfortable.

Total take for the day was five salmon.

It sure was a pleasure having Gerry and Dave on board today.

Thanks for stopping by.

ALL SYSTEMS A GO

Today was the first day out with the Missy Jean for the 2013 season.
What a shake down it turned out to be!

After several days of getting the boat ready, new top with side curtains, boat and trailer serviced for the new season, a few new toys added and some items replaced that were not working so good at end of last season.
Happy to report everything was flawless including the fishing.

I hit the water at 6:00 am on the East Shore of Isle La Motte.
Looking for certain water temperatures that would produce some fish,  I found the lake trout  in approx. 25 feet of water, 13 feet down, with a surface temperature of 48 degrees.
These are just a few photos of the fish I caught for the day, the catch was; 15 lakers, weighing 7-9 lbs.

I had plans to fish with my friend Justin, he could not make it today, maybe next time Justin!

I sure was challenged fishing by myself, reeling and netting these fish alone sure was fun indeed.

FISH ON!

Blue/silver seemed to be the favorite for the day.

The waters were calm for most of the day.  It was a beautiful day here on the Island.
First 70 degree day sense last year.

Here she is, ready to go for yet another year.
Won't you come join me, Lake Champlain Trout Scout Charters for a day of fishing on the great waters of Lake Champlain?

I would like to thank Kevin and Pam for the pictures they took of me and the boat from a distance out on the water, great photos, thanks guys!
Thanks for stopping by.
